SMHS Band Boosters
Parents - here is your chance to get involved with the band and make some new friends at the same time! Upcoming meetings are listed on the main calendar page.
How to attend a Zoom meeting:
This meeting will be held online using the Zoom program, similar to a FaceTime call with multiple people. You can use a desktop, laptop, phone or tablet.
Directions: Click the button to go to the meeting, click the "Join With Computer Audio" button, and enter the password when it asks.

You may see a screen that says you are in a "waiting room" - I will see your name appear on my screen and I will click to let you in.

In general, just be patient. Everybody is dealing with different technology and internet service, so every one of these meetings I've been in has had some bumps in the road. We'll deal with this temporary way of doing things for now, and one day soon we'll be meeting in person again.

- Sound: There is a button on the screen that looks like headphones - click it to turn your microphone on to speak or off to listen. Please leave your microphone on mute when you are not speaking - many of them are sensitive enough to pick up the TV or other conversations in the room and broadcast them to everybody in the meeting, which gets very distracting.
- Video: There is another button that looks like a camera. If you turn it off you will see other people whose cameras are on, but they will only see a black screen with your name. Leaving it on or off is your choice.
- Reactions: It is hard to judge the audience when running a meeting this way! In a face to face meeting the speaker will look around to read your expressions and think "They get it, keep going", or "They look confused, better explain that again", or "I'm boring them to death, change the subject!", but this is hard to do when everybody's face is in a little 2" box. Clicking the Reactions button will bring up a menu of a clapping hands or thumbs up emoji just like texting. If you click that button the emoji will show up for a few seconds.
